Last year was dominated by very bold colors, but this year many designers are saying there is a return to a more neutral palette. But there's an interesting twist. Instead of the neutral palette focusing on browns and beiges, the trend is now shades of gray. Gray ads a chic, elegant look to most rooms.

In the past, gray has been thought of as being somewhat gloomy. However, this new trend mixes neutral gray with both bold colors and pastels like blue, yellow and green. This lets you showcase unique pieces of art, furniture and other décor pieces in your home while walls and flooring take a backseat. And in a nod to the Scandinavian style, the color gray also is thought to be clean and somewhat of a minimal design.
If you are thinking of incorporating gray into your design renovation, I've got a unique design idea to share with you. It's glam not gloomy!
If you are thinking about gray on walls or floors, why not glam it up with a unique grout color? Grout from the Tile Doctor under the STAINMASTER® brand is the perfect accent to add a bit of boldness to your backsplash or flooring. Here are a couple examples.
If you are going for a clean and minimalistic look, the linen ceramic tiles are a terrific choice, especially on walls. Pair this with an Eggplant + Silver or Sapphire + Silver grout from The Tile Doctor and you've got a glamorous look.
Slate, Travertine or other natural stone: I like this for bathroom flooring. These natural stones tend to have several color patterns going on. You may find blue, gray, gold and other colors. For these, a Lime + Gold or an Artic Blue+ Gold may make for a beautiful color variation.
Lots of possibilities are available to add a touch of soft tones of gray to your décor. Where are you most looking forward to adding shades of gray in your home? Check out the full line of STAINMASTER® grout available from the Tile Doctor with shimmer finishes.
